Award: Experiential Education Stipend

Award Term: Summer 2025

Major(s): Industrial Engineering

Employer: Jared's Heart of Success

Over the summer, I interned with Jared’s Heart of Success, a nonprofit dedicated to preventing gun violence and promoting conflict resolution among youth. I supported the founder, Sharmaine Brown, with event planning and curriculum development for the organization’s after-school program, which focuses on goal setting and personal development for students. One of my proudest accomplishments was planning and running a community event from start to finish, which taught me valuable lessons about initiative and teamwork. My studies at Georgia Tech, particularly through nonprofit consulting projects, helped me adapt to unstructured situations and think critically, while my internship strengthened my communication and problem-solving skills. This experience also broadened my career perspective, showing me how to balance a technical career with meaningful nonprofit involvement.
