The Sustainable Communities Internship Program. funded in part by the Public Sector Internship Stipend, has fundamentally altered the trajectory of my intended career. By providing my work "in kind" to a local social enterprise company in exchange for invaluable exposure to the potential of sustainable business initiatives and endeavors, the community we share received its care today and a caretaker for tomorrow. From coworking spaces to ribbon cuttings, I witnessed the inspirational impact of community members collaborating with their shared experiences and expertise to generate economic value in harmony with our environment rather than beside it. Every day of this program begged the question "but can we do better?", and I will carry the response of the positive financial impact to sustainably managing life and resources as a filter for all of my decision making to come.
